A letter from April:
First of all, I would like to thank Peter for acknowledging what I am fighting and facing along with my family.
My father met Peter about 13 years ago when he was hired for the construction of Nitza’s Pizza.
Over the period of time they have developed a very meaningful friendship and Peter has treated us like family.
I have been fighting and battling chronic neurological Lyme disease since 2018. I was able to have treatment in 2020 and I was in remission for three years, unfortunately this year I became deathly ill again. Once confirmed and I had informed my family of what I was facing again for the second time, my dad spoke to Peter. I have been in a critical state and needed to go for treatment in Germany again. The financial burden and stress as to how my parents were going to help me get my treatment overseas was overwhelming. Not only is this a financial burden, but it bankrupts you physically, emotionally, mentally and financially. When my dad spoke with Peter and shared the news, Peter was very supportive and immediately understood the major expense that my parents would have to endure so I could go to Germany for treatment the second time in hopes for quality of life I desperately need.
Peter frequently does fundraisers for many deserving charities and causes. He chatted with me in October when we had lunch, and informed me of a golf tournament fundraiser to help my family and I with the medical and recovery expenses, and a few other causes that he wanted to share with. I remember tears running down my face, I was overwhelmed to hear this. He said we are like family and everything he could do would be his pleasure. For the time that I have known Peter, I must say that he is a one of a kind, genuine, compassionate human being who thrives on giving and helping others to make a difference in their lives. I am so grateful for Peter to want to help my family and myself.
Lyme disease is an incredibly hard disease to diagnose and treat in North America and I went years not knowing what was wrong with me. Indeed I was suffering with late stage Lyme disease which is caused by a tick bite and it can lay dormant when you have a healthy immune system.
After treatment in 2020, I eventually recovered and felt like myself again. Up until the beginning of 2024. My worst nightmare became my reality and I knew what was happening this time around. My immune system was compromised after being in 2 severe car accidents within a 6 month period. All of my symptoms came back.
There are over 150 symptoms that come from this disease and I wish there was an easier way to get help and treatment, unfortunately the necessary treatments are overseas.
I keep fighting because I truly want my life back again.
Since 2018 we have spent close to $200,000 but I can’t give up now. This disease wreaks havoc on the brain and entire central nervous system. I am dedicated to going into remission again and want the suffering to stop.
I am forever grateful and thankful to know that humanity exists when I have Peter in my corner and wants to see me well again. I have so much appreciation for him and wish him continued success and hope that the fundraiser goes well. I hope I can raise more awareness about this disease that not many are familiar with. I am determined to get on the other side of this and help others who may be struggling as well.
